Revised 08/05/2011

If you are looking to start a new and rewarding career as a dental assistant, STVT has just the program for you!  Our Dental Assisting (DA) diploma program is designed to prepare students for successful careers in less than a year.  The career-oriented program combines dental office administration, laboratory procedures, and chairside dental care.

Professional instructors help students develop skills and hands-on experience necessary to assist with the delivery of quality, efficient dental care.  Let STVT help you start your career in this exciting industry.  Our diploma program offers affordable, practical training with convenient scheduling options.   Faculty help students foster skills essential for success in the fast-paced environment of dental offices including billing and insurance procedures, patient record management, tray setup, x-ray processing, and dental charting.

Students must possess a high school diploma, GED or recognized equivalent, or demonstrate the ability to benefit from training.  Non-high school graduates or students who do not possess appropriate equivalency may be admitted under ability to benefit (ATB) criteria with a minimum score of Verbal-200 and Quantitative-210 on the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.  The DA graduate will be qualified for entry-level employment as a receptionist, insurance clerk or chairside assistance in dental offices or clinics.

As of September 1, 2006, a student must complete a mandatory brief course approved by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners in order to become a registered dental assistant.  An approved provider list can be found of the TSBDE website - http://www.tsbde.state.tx.us.  STVT will pay for this required course and a student's first attempt of successful completion of this course for all DA students that have completed all other academic requirements towards the completion of the program.

Programs vary by location so please contact your local STVT campus for more information.  Talk to an admissions representative today to learn more about starting your career as a dental assistant by calling (888) 509-3584.

The On-time Graduation Rate is a calculation which demonstrates, based on the number of students who graduate within the 2009-2010 award year, the percentage of those students who completed their educational program on time based on the published program length (in weeks). The published program length assumes a student is attending full-time and passes each class without being required to repeat any courses. Students not attending full time are required to repeat a class, are not counted as graduating on time.

On-time Graduation Rate: 76% (Day), 85% (Evening)

Median Loan Debt:

The Median Loan Debt calculation is based on the median debt incurred in Title IV Federal Student Aid Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) and Private Loans incurred by students who graduated from their educational program in the 2009-2010 award year. In addition, we provide the median amount graduates owed the school (school balance) at the time the student graduated from the educational program. This data is intended to provide prospective students, and the public, with the median amount a student can be expected to repay upon completing the program.
